Char·ac·ter·is·tics
noun
plural noun: characteristics
1. feature or quality belonging typically to a person, place, or thing and serving to identify it.
Twenty years ago, couples searched for wedding vendors via their category. Like a Wedding venue, or a Catering company. Much has changed in the way couples and clients prefer to do their big day searching. It’s now about characteristics, isn’t it?

Move over categories and set up a chair, because keywords and features just entered the building and wants half of the room. What you identify as, is now only the tip of the iceberg as a wedding vendor.
In 2023, couples and clients are looking for unique characteristics and qualities you provide within your category type as a business. They are making choices and searching for vendors that meet certain qualities and attributes, that match their dreams and personalities. They want vendors based on new ideas from coveted Pinterest boards leading them to trying to find a dark and moody photographer or a whimsical woodsy wedding venue that they have fallen in love with.

Almost all of the vendor listing sites, including Google search, are still solving the age-old category search (if you can afford a listing AND/OR are an SEO genius and can rank for your category, you have solved HALF of the battle.) Today’s couples are searching for keyword characteristics and qualities just as much as they are searching for your business in a category.
Until creating Most Perfect Match from scratch based on my personal work in the wedding industry as a vendor, I have not truly come across a method of searching for a wedding vendor through category and specific keyword characteristics. Countless posts in wedding groups around the country capture the heart and soul of why I have created Most Perfect Match and thus meeting the needs of Couples and Vendors today.

Here are a fraction of real posts to showcase my observations:
“looking for a traditional or documentary style photographer; “losing my mind – looking for a outdoor space overlooking water “; “looking for a elegant and film style engagement shoot”; “reasonable, and rustic wedding reception area” ; “looking for Bridal and Groom cottages near the mountains; “Natural, bohemian, minimalist makeup artist”; “DJ that can provide country mix music with some fun dance songs“; “Looking for offsite Fairytale themed in the woods reception area”; “BYO Booze bartender that is also a DJ”. “Simple, natural, non-cakey makeup LGBTQ+“
It has become just as important to find the keyword characteristics (the soul) of YOUR business as it has to find YOUR category for a Couple.

In recognizing this over the past 10 years, I knew that there needed to be a new way to search and locate vendors based on both keyword characteristics AND categories. A double layered search reaching the soul of YOUR business faster. The reason it is taking so much time and energy on the part of the couple to find you, is that Google and other vendor directories are only providing the traditional HALF of the search in single category placements that group you together with all the other vendors in your category (more on this in my next post), leaving the couple and client to figure out the rest. This takes hours if not weeks to months of sorting through vendors! Yikes! (I have had many past brides tell me that they searched multiple times before they finally found my business) It’s a sea of vendors in the same category isn’t it?
The Most Perfect Match Vendor directory can cross reference multiple vendor categories at once, target filter match based on keyword characteristic filters, and offers a keyword search–oh and there is a map view so you can see where each vendor is located in each state. – oh oh and a budget filter too. We have also added a community calendar – ONE place for couples and clients to find vendor events. Vendors can create events, such as an open house and post it for couples to find. Creating this has been a dream come true. It’s a project in the making nearly two years and we are just getting started. ❤️- Joy
